If 69 Camaro`s have to run correct hood, Why don`t 69 Chevelle with 396 have to run correct Super Sport hood? All 396, 325 hp. & 350 hp. came only SS from the factory.

I dont even see SS listed for 69 Chevelles. It lists sport, but it also lists that for a four door. Irregardless to that, there is no advantage one way or the other on the Chevelle hoods. The cowl hood on the 69 Camaros on the other hand provides additional clearance over the carb.

Try running a 67-69 Camaro or a 68 Chevy II or a 69 Nova, 350/300/295, without the fake louvers /vents on the hood, and let me know how far you get.

68 Chevy 11, 69 Nova was available with the 350-295/300 in the base car without the louvers. Been running them off and on for a long time. Never had any comments about it.

The correct hood for any '69 Chevelle with a 396 is the Super Sport hood, as the 396 was only available with the Super Sport option. -Al

Mark, you didn't need the Super Sport option for any of the small blocks in the '68 and up Novas. The Super Sport package was an added option, not a requirement with any of the small block engines. Therefor, a louvered hood hood is not a requirement for a small block Nova of that vintage. -Al
