Larry, That would not be the point here.
Try running a 67-69 Camaro or a 68 Chevy II or a 69 Nova, 350/300/295, without the fake louvers /vents on the hood, and let me know how far you get.

I have a 67 Camaro with 295/350 the louvers on my hood are for looks only. They do nothing.

Mark, in this 2017 version of rules enforcement, what exactly would they do? Just curious....

Yeah, I know . I was going to make a similar comment.
Thought I'd just post what was, in the good old days.

68 Chevy 11, 69 Nova was available with the 350-295/300 in the base car without the louvers. Been running them off and on for a long time. Never had any comments about it.

Mark, you didn't need the Super Sport option for any of the small blocks in the '68 and up Novas. The Super Sport package was an added option, not a requirement with any of the small block engines. Therefor, a louvered hood hood is not a requirement for a small block Nova of that vintage. -Al

Alan, Painter , I believe you are correct about the Novas, now that I think about it. The SS louvers are the same part as the ones on the 67 Camaros.

My friend, back in the 70's, had a 68 Camaro, 350 / 295 , base model , Powerglide, column shift, bench seat , small hubcaps. It had the square vent looking things on the hood.
I'll stand by my comment about Camaros.

Mark 68 Camaros had early and late hood trim . The square fake vents were the later type. The same with Z-28 emblems early 68s just said 302 while the late cars said Z-28.

I thought the square "ducts" were for BB Camaro's and the "finned" lower profile grille hoods were for SB Camaros in 1967 and 1968.
