Wade,

Good luck with the car-it'll be beautiful and you'll get lots of looks with the fans-I love 55-62 Vettes and if I ever hit the lottery, I'd buy one. Plus with all the heads up runs and all the great looking cars in stock these days, I predict it'll become the most popular sportsman class among fans, and I hate to say that as a comp car owner.

wade,

60 had a solid rear, you can run any rear you want you need a 12 bolt for the gear ratio's and durability...

the 230 - 215 is a decent combo... however no BARGAIN because nhra WILL NOT let us use the cheating #459 intake all other 283's get to use... the 265 carb & intake is about 35hp less than a 459 and bigger 4gc the 64-66 get to use...

look for a 2x4 intake and run the 245 hp... its a good deal for 30 hp trust me...

also i suggest marv ripes for trans / converter he's and OLD 283 guru

jack

been running the 1960 215 hp for 27 years !!!

Jack and David, thanks for the info, I have ask the NHRA staff for a ruling on the use of a 12 bolt rear in a 60 Corvette Stocker. It is on the desk of National Technical Services Mr. Bruce Bachelder at NHRA headquarters. I expect to hear something shortly from them that will put it to rest.
