Ken, really appreciate all the reporting and pics as well as Keith’s reporting in the .90 section. Since you both had track problems with your runs I’m just going to chime in. Track prep was certainly suspect on several fronts with huge bald spots going unattended (largely dependent on who the starter was). For them to only drag past the 1/8 mile after alcohol ran is irresponsible and to put cars on the track late Saturday night was dangerous. When Saturday turned wet and based on conditions I elected to drive home Saturday night thinking they would never get to Super Stock and could drive down early Sunday morning for first round. Took my car home Saturday night just in case they did by some miracle run first round. You can watch Saturday night’s video to see how it all unfolded. The miracle was nobody got hurt. My apologies to my laddered opponent (Jim “Snoopy” Harrison) for not advising him of my intentions. My question is what was so dang important to get fast cars down the track late Saturday with the dew so heavy? They couldn’t run the Juniors Q runs instead of waiting for the gorgeous Sunday morning when fast cars could have ran? The lack of common sense in how the program was run is astounding. C’mon Man, NHRA you can do better than that!
