Right now I can't think of the guy's name in Indianapolis that was building so many Pro Stock engines, and was leasing them out. Anyway, he supposedly told one of Mike's guys he ported the new ( at that time) Chrysler heads with the same CNC program as the GMs. I've seen a set of Mike's heads as-delivered from GM. Unless something has changed they are raw castings. Not much of an OEM design there. Only a rough, about a 1", hole where an intake port would be. No seats, guides, etc. about four to six pieces from GM in the whole car. Same for the others. Big deal.
Aftermarket head castings with a "factory" part number and CNC ports. When Dale Eicke took over the Mopar program after the Wayne County "break in", I remember reading that he had a set of Pontiac heads "blessed" with a Mopar part number. It's my contention that those "factory" part numbers are assigned to parts that are developed by individuals (Glidden, Roy Johnson, WJ, Larry Morgan, Eicke etc) using manufacturers money and that manufacturer gets their name and part number on the part. The parts themselves don't resemble current assembly line parts in any way at all really.
