It really get to me when people say that Erica does not deserve anything because "Daddy writes the check". Erica has been driving for quite awhile now. She lost her ride and went out and beat the bushes for another sponsor. She is a pretty fair driver and has spent her time as a novice. She may not work on her car, but she has worked to make the program work. As for "Daddy writing the checks" she is hardly the first to have Daddy write the checks. For one Shane Gray's Dad has put a lot of money in his program. Greg may not have the best or personalities, but he also has worked for what he has and had. None likes to lose and his just was on national TV.

Ed...you are old enough to remember when there were weight breaks in Pro Stock.

Every time a Mopar or Ford Cleveland would go faster than a GM, they would get punished.
Jeez...even the AMC's took a beating in the weight breaks when they started to go fast...

No weight breaks now. BBCs & SBCs, short wheel bases, Fords, every body got "adjusted" back then.
People just complained about (and now only seem to remember) the changes that effected them or their heros.

Yeah, they never penalized the Chevrolets, or wrote special rules for Bill Jenkins when the Chevrolets won.

Nothing like that ever happened.

Selective memory is a wonderful thing, ain't it?

It ain't like half the rule book in Pro Stock was written to stop Bill Jenkins from going fast.

It's amazing, Ford and Chrysler just hang right in there, even though they've never gotten a break, or preferential treatment, from NHRA in 60 years, while Chevrolet gets everything handed to them on a silver platter.

Why is this daddy write check stuff so important when Greg Anderson has one of the most well funded teams racing in Pro Stock. Ken Black spends plenty as well. The funny thing is that most of you have failed to realized that Pro Stock is no longer about being a good driver, you have to bring money to the table as well. Thats probably the only reason that Dave Connoly and other great drivers are not in a car now.

As far as Greg is concerned, people dislike him because he one of those drivers that doesn't always know how to come back down to reality after a loss. When he loses, its as if he's still in the car and takes him a while to settle back down. Essentially, most people would like him to lighten up a little bit when things go wrong. Unfortunately, everyone can't be the same, so the each his own. On another note, I love how Allen and Jason can't find time to joke around in the midst of the seriousness of racing, it fun to watch and in my opinion how it should be. Serious in the car, back to reality once you get out.

Also, why is that when Allen Johnson goes fast, people refer to the Wayne County Deal? Why not just express that I dislike mopar and acknowledge that Roy, Jim, Mark, and Allen are doing a great job to make their car fast?

I believe back in the early seventy’s from 1972 until ?. The pro stock Hemi was carrying 7.25 per cube and Chevy’s were @7.00. Don’t know what date they changed to 500 ci for all

Cutta, you make my point in your first paragraph. If Erica didn't have her father buying the ride Dave Connoly would be in the seat. Last I checked Erica's father doesn't own her team but does provide backing so she get's the ride. Dave is a better driver, everyone knows that but he doesn't have someone paying the team owner so he doesn't drive.

Ken Black should be spending money. He owns the team, Erica's dad doesn't.

Like who you like, I don't really care. The days of Glidden and Nicholson are gone but I do respect those who spin wrenches much more than those who buy their ride.

I agree with Mr. Ron D. I like the personalities both drivers bring to the sport and many of the others. I love them both. Heck, I love everybody...including Kyle Ratcliff and his sheep. Well, maybe not as much as HE loves his sheep but I hear he is working that out in therapy. Pass the popcorn please.

Speaking of Daddy writing the checks...how come no one has mentioned Jeggie? Brandon Berstein? Tony Schumacher?
Sure, Jeg is a great all around racer, but where would he be without the company his father started? Do you think he's wrenching on the motor or grabbing that hot clutch disc? I doubt it.
You all do know that Troy Humphrey (sp?) is Greg's father-in-law, right? You don't think that maybe he was helping fund Greg in the begining?
Give Erica some props. She has been working hard to be successful. Congratulate her for the success and move on.
