Default Re: Stocker starter

My first and only starter was a Tilton. One time in 15+ years it had a problem. It was making a noise it shouldn't have but still started the car. & A $25 part fixed it. That was a 12v system with a fairly high compression engine with a locked district distributor advance @ 38* to 40* and no start retard in place.
This time around I have a GPE starter as he made me one with a custom pinion gear for a reduced diameter flywheel I had built. It's a 16v starter. I haven't run it yet but I expect I will very happy with this starter.
I just hope the spark from the ignition will be able to keep up with the starter!
