We have used the poly and the aluminum in our race cars over the years. The inserts in the poly seats are worthless and as some have noted here, bolting them through is the way to go plus making sure you have the back of the seat supported/bolted to the roll cage cross brace. With the seat installed this way, it does a good job and I think is very comfortable. My boys like the Kirkey seats in their racecars and at least with the optional covers they aren't too bad - w/o the cover the things are rough on the bottom of your spine in my opinion. I also have found that the forward bolster part of the Kirkey seat kind of catches my outer thigh area and tends to hurt eventually. If you have the chance I would see if someone will let you sit in their car to see how they feel to you.
