My last post above may have been misleading in that when I started by saying "Bingo" I "was agreeing" with Jim Caughlin's post about the necessity of using blinders on the tree for it to be fair.
Without blinders in larger handicap starts the faster car will always have the advantage of seeing the red light and therefore knowing what he has to do to not loose the round. As a result it seems to me that with blinders on the tree the playing field would more level than it would be without them. When the race is heads up or the handicap start is too close to obtain the advantage of being the faster car- it wouldn't matter nearly as much. Just my 2 cents...
