These cars on kill will run 9.20's possibly teens all day long with a pulley change and some tuning. Next topic.

Word is: last qualifier 109.80 mph @ I/8. The person who ran with this car was walking around the track and showing the ticket to anyone who wanted to look. He also checked the weight and said the car was 170 pounds heavy. This stuff isn't going away.

Several years ago, I attempted to get the Pontiac GTP's into the Classification Manual. Ironically, even though Pontiac was the "Car of NHRA", they didn't have any of the 1997 & up Grand Prixs listed in the Manual. Len Imbragno tried for several years, and even made extra classes for the FWD cars. But they weren't classified until after he left.

The reason I mention all that is, at the time, I asked about changing the pulley diameter. I was told that only the STOCK pulley diameter would be allowed. Rules for Supercharged Stockers aren't addressed in the rulebook, but back in the old '57 Ford days they had to use the STOCK pulleys. Hardly anything else has changed in Stock since then, so I was just wonderin'.

One must remeber in the day (1957) Ford had 2 sets of pulleys one set for Stick and one for set for auto.

I have been told that the stock OEM pulley with the correct tooth count and part number must be used on the new Ford. As far as the turbos, I have been though many tear downs and can tell you NHRA has all the specs they need to check the housings and cartridges. They check both wheel diameters and for clipping. The turbo must be completely stock as produced with the correct make and part number. Jim

What's funny about these boosted cars, and I know we are beating this issue again into the ground, is that as you keep loading these vehicles down weight wise they will get faster. The CJ's, no matter how they get weighed down, if the chassis is set up right they will not slow down. Break parts, yes, slow down, no.

Thanks for clarifying. I was pretty sure that the forced induction combinations didn't have a "blank check".

It looks like the "blank check" has already been cashed. The current AA/SA record holder has never posted a 109.80 mph figure in the 1/8 mile. And this is only the second race for these cars.
