If your trans shifts ok by hand, I would guess the cable is in a bind (not enough of an easy bend) That's my .02

Ken,

Try what Bob said to do.... Make sure the tranny arm shifts easy by hand...If thats OK, check for a kink in the cable.. Try taking it off trans again and adjusting it in each gear to see if that helps ? Make sure you only remove at the eye-let , so the cable is still in the bent position... I think you may find it's in the tranny arm ? Good Luck & Merry Xmas....
