Little did you know that they had worked on the old CJ every night for a week getting it as perfect as it could be. I had also set my first SS/G record that weekend. LOL Are we having fun?

Jeff, the problem with your memory is that the Camaro was the one that got torn down, SE didn't back up his run. So the Camaro got the record. That was also the race where I ran the 11.19@121 on Sunday morning after setting the record at 11.32@119 on Saturday. I think I may have bought fresh gas for the Camaro to get ready for that race.

Giving credit to SE and Jim, one of the outstanding performances I remember was at the winter series race in Lake Charles ('85 or '86) where they ran 10.80s in D. I believe it was the red car. I was in B there and could only run a few hundredths quicker.

We were all bad back then!!

Dwight:

Just talked to Verne. I needed him(with his computer memory) to confirm my memory of of that race. We set the record at 11.27 and backed it up with an 11.31, in fact I have the record certificate to prove it.
I remember that was a fun time to race because you had a bunch of guys in your class and all were friends and trying to out perform the other. Of all the things I miss about racing that is the thing I miss the most.
Verne doesn't remember the 11.19 run but I wouldn't argue with you since most days
now I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday.

You LOOONG time Buddy;

Just thought of something else. Jim Kuntz and I set the D/S record at 10.88 in the fall
of 1987 and the C/S record in 1988 at 10.92. We claim both records as the first in
the 10's in both classes. If someone can prove me wrong I will back off of that.

We had a Bad 1970 red Cobra Jet Mustang orginally built by Larry Yow in 1982/3.
Kuntz improved on the already great performance of that car in order to set both records.

S.E. - We may not be talking about the same race. I looked at the record certificate I have and it says April 4, 1981. You were racing the silver convertible. I also have a certificate for the E record set on Feb 14, 1981. I also have record certificates for the A record 10.73 and the B record 10.76 from 1986 with the 396.
