Yeah, I think you're right. Mike may have been the first carbureted small block automatic in the 10's.

I know the 302 car was the first smallblock period to do it. I had the first sb auto car to do it at the 95 winternationals. I went 10.99 in E/SA with my 71 Duster 340. Within a few hundreths was also Gene Buell and Linda Myers, both with E/SA 340 cars.I believe Woodro Josey did it a few months later also. Ken Etter

I believe I was the 1st small block stocker in the 10's. I went a few 90s in the fall of 1990 then went as quick as a 10.86 at 122.5 in the spring of 91 ( as per an old National Dragster of April 11,1991). Hopes this helps I was running D/S with my 67 302 Z-28 Camaro

Kent,
That car is right here in East Texas, belongs to an old buddy of mine. I remember well when you ran the first 10's |

That is a great car I bought it in high school when it was a 6 cylinder 3 on the tree. Needless to say a lot of blood, sweat, money and help from lots of friends went into that car. Kent |

The first iteration of Kent's 302 was in that car and ran 11.19@121 in 1982. Kent bought it in 1985 and he did much better with it than I did. |

Ken: I believe you are correct that you had the first small block auto in the 10's. I was there and watched your pass! I was then racing and still run a 340 car, so I watched everybody pretty close in mid 90's and never heard of another car going that fast at either a divisional or National event!! PS: I recall numerous articles and ads that stated Jim Waldo had first stocker in 10's although I didn't observe that run myself...........................By the way if it wasn't for Al and Ken Etters help we would have quit Stock Eliminator after the first few races.

Pretty sure it was Jim Waldo as well. Someone else will have to help with the date. Appears he's won a few times.
