The DOHC Ford Indy engine was an offshoot of the stock block Ford Indy engines of 1962 . More power was needed , so an overhead cam version was developed . A J Foyt took over the production of the DOHC Indy engine in about 1967 . The insignia on the cam covers went from FORD to FOYT .
Jim Busby had a twin engine dragster in the late 60s that used these engines . Sounded like nothing else on earth . Mike Croley dist. for Competition Race Fuels |
