If you wanted to run a 383/343 combo in a SS/AH car in GT, can you run the hood scoop?

Ex division 2 tech director Daryl Davis ran a 62 Dodge wagon/383/343 in 1969 in G/SA. I remember 13.0's and ocaisionally high 12's. I had many opportunities to witness those runs coming from behind. I was spotting him just over a second and never beat him except when he broke out more than a tenth. This was running off national records.
