Default Re: Lar

My son-in-law has one. Not sure what year but it is a very early one. A 260 V8 2 barrel carb with a floor shifted manual trans. I think it was a 4 speed. It has been sitting for years and needs a ton of work.

My son and I spent some time working on it to get it started since it had not run in years. I put a starter in it and free'd up the crab as it was rusted solid.

Checked the ignition and added some gas and it started right up and ran perfect.

Gas tank was rusted out and leaked as soon as we added gas....

Ignition switch came apart after turning it on and off a few times...

Interior was real bad...

Lots of rust underneath and a lot of Bondo on the body,,,,

My son-in-law is a Veterinarian and no time for working on it.

It would take a lot of time, money and work to restore it and it was a real basic no option car.....I told him there is no way it would be worth it.....

A Mustang is really just a Falcon with a different body and it was an idea that worked and sold a lot of cars. Lee Iacocca was the man behind it if I recall right....

Ed your gas tank is your trunk floor.......and in a rear collison if the tank ruptures fuel it goes directly in the back seat....and that is not good....

They didn't care much about safety back then......
