I suppose a V8 car, if it has the original transmission, might be better. It is highly unlikely to find an original Metric 200 in the car it came in at this point, production ceased a long time ago. Maybe a Malibu, if you happened to find an old 305 V8 car with low miles in great shape.

look at 76-87 v6 G bodys /some of the V8 cars had them too--some 76-about 82 Fbodys maybe an Olds/Impala from the same era-- they are out there you just hafta find an older car--- maybe even buy the whole car if you can find a clunker "real cheap" -- even some Isuzu cars had them ---overall usually found in low HP lighter weight vehicles

Thanks guys. I have access to a salvage yard that went out of business in the early 90's. Its like walking through the jungle now but there are a ton of cars there. Next time I am down that way I will see what I can find.

200-C is what I have been told and look for the later ones that have the input shaft extension for the lock-up converter

The 200-C was first released in 1981. There were several fixes in that series of transmissions, including an improved servo assembly and 3rd gear circuit, and an improved pump assembly. From 1981 through 1988 the basic transmission was the same.

Yes, and the plug for the lock up wiring.
We just chop the nub off the input shaft with a cut off wheel.
Some of the early models had a large, single piston servo which can be used in a real low budget build.

Would a metric 200 from a '76 Chevy 305 work as a decent core for a small block stock elim. application ?

Thanks Alan. I responded to your email to Oliver Connecting Rods about torque specs for our bolts. Let me know if you guys need anything.

Never got it. We've been having issues with our email during our network change over.
