Can't beat the TIG for versatility and clean welds, IF you can operate it.

MIG is okay for most stuff, spot welds on body panels and such, but keep in mind that all Chromoly must be TIG welded, plus the TIG is nice for small fabrications out of Aluminum or steel.
Being able to control the heat better is the big advantage of TIG welding.

I assume you are looking to purchase a welder and take care of some simple stuff on your own?

Takes a little practice to get the TIG program going, anyone that can stick weld can learn to MIG decent in a matter of minutes to hours.....I don't like the flux core wire, always use the appropriate shield gas for what you're doing.
