Heard the same argument from fast cars being beat by cheaper slow cars etc.
Can a crate motor car throw any cam in it? No. Any head? No. Any valvetrain? No. So what makes it a crate motor? Well, you have to run a particular set of parts as per their part number. The carb is a 750 holley for small blocks and 850 for big...can I run any carb on a crate? No! So what's left? Ahhh...the intake. ANY intake is allowed, which is like totally different than a LD340 intake on a ....or a certain intake on 283's....or.... If the rule says "you must run xyz part to be legal" is that a spec or not? Can you deviate from that spec or not? So basically, the fight is about allowing people to use easier to find parts instead of 50 year old cast iron. What if the rule said factory intake and carb? Well then the only difference between a crate motor and a traditional stocker would be the heads. THAT'S IT! And if you can't find 50 year old heads, you ain't gonna find 50 year old intakes and carbs any easier! Wife looked up the coyote crate motor yesterday on amazon, $17,000. I said WHAT??? that can't be right, must include electronics etc but she already had switched so I never got to read it. Would you guys feel better if crate motors cost $17,000 and you couldn't build it yourself? Then the game is again set for the richer ones? Last edited by goinbroke2; 09-18-2017 at 12:03 PM. |

Do 8.0/170mph "Stockers" that have no VIN and can never be titled, licensed or insured for street use have a showroom available engine in a showroom available body?

But don't even dare trying to beat me over the head with that one again. Instead, check the threads, going back about 9 years to see what I had to say about that caper.

Dan simply question
How many times have you raced Pure Stock in the last 2 years ? Now you want Nhra to allow you pure Stock racers in why Nhra sucks and is a rip off. If less that 1 time you are opinions mean little or nothing on this forum Ihra failed because of racers like you KEN. I’m easy to find at the racetrack But these computer racers stay seated where it’s safe Frank I have 2 cars I work twice as hard as you could

I have been racing Pure Stock for last 5 years. As for NHRA you think they suck? Why are you dirging them? They work hard to run a Motor Sport organization. Feel sorry they have to deal with grumpy people like you. IHRA made a very tough business decision. I do not like how and what they did...but they and we have to live with it. Their main reason dropping Sportsman? Too many racers did not support the sport. The indifference killed IHRA Sportsman and NHRA could be next. Especially if they cannot have a profitable business model. This conversation has been discussed on other Threads. Mike Beard put on one of the best independent S/SS programs ever. Made ok profit the first year and promises everyone would be back the next. We did not support him . Few appreciated his monumental effort and organization. GT, CM and PS are part of our sport. Losing a promoter like Mike, IHRA and these classes is a Canary in the Mines. Beware of your opinions as they can bite back. As for my opinions meaning little or nothing on this forum? Maybe you should check how many people have been responding? Despite whether you agree with me or not. If anyone asked for my help I would be right there to help. I have no animosity or anger here. But wow I sure got a pile of it. I just want to race a Pure Stocker and compete against anyone willing to race against me. James bet you $10 you cannot beat me. Remember I am Mr. Pure Stock ! I did not mean it to make it sound personal. I would guess we are on the same side of the argument.
