Well, I have followed this proposal and all the ups and downs about NHRA and their Reps that are supposed to be our voice. But since I'm an old racer that is a former multiple track owner I'm going to tell it like I see it.
1. Ed is forgetting the first rule of racing. (so are a lot of others) It is not about the racers. It is about the money. 2. NHRA sells the divisional series to individual track owners. So no matter what the racers or NHRA wants it all comes down to: can the program stand the changes and the track owners make more profit for the time involved ?? 3. From a racers stand point most of the proposals make some sense, (all except combining stick and auto) but from a track owners view they are a burden that consumes time. 4. Some of what he is proposing was done in the past, but times have changed. We are living in today, when the spectators are wanting something different than what we enjoyed back in the 60's and 70's. BTW: I do know that NHRA and the Rep's ran Ed's proposal all over the place, up and down and back and forth. Getting upset or your shorts in a wad will not change a thing. You can beat the proposal or NHRA up all you want, but nothing is going to change.. OK, now you can beat up this old Keyboard Jockey.
