Well nhra needs to do something about the number of classes. Everyone wants the manufacturers to pay class wins but with in excess of 120 individual classes I don't know many that could afford to cover that.
Without class win money what's the point in spending the money to win class?
Just my two cents

Cutting and combining classes is not the answer. If you guys get your way with combining classes, and only class winners getting into the Eliminator that means At big races like Indy and Sportnationals classes like E,F,G, H automatic would have over 20 cars each, and only one car would get into the Eliminator? If you want to scare away racers, that is the way to do it!!!!These ideas need a little more thinking.

All of the cars that lost in Class Elimations would also have the opportunity to get in based on their ET......

If you remember back to way it was...

NHRA just keeps on reinventing the wheel and we are usually worse off for it....

Bob what is so difficult about combining sticks and autos. Keep separate hp. It has worked with FS cars in stk and ss for 5 years now.

Please someone please tell me what we are going to accomplish by combining stick cars ,with the automatics. And don't tell me it will increase the class payouts? The only people that are going to be happy with it are the numerous stick class guys who can kick *** on 95% of the automatic cars.

My vote is for number 2. With some exceptions.
I don't have a problem with combining the stick and auto classes if the horsepower is adjusted to keep the combos equal. The stick cars would have a distinct advantage in performance especially if they are running a liberty clutch less type trans. In my case the stick car actually has a less HP factor than the auto so that would have to be adjusted. NHRA has proven that they don't really have the ability to closely monitor performance and make adjustments as needed. This would have to changed for the better. There really is not many stick cars left. They are much harder to maintain and drive competitively.
Points for records and top 10 qualifiers sounds like a excellent way to bring back some of the performance aspect of class racing. Might even help with the AHFS. More quota at he national events might bring a little more heads up racing as well. I would also like to see the class combo killed and go back to the way it was before that was implemented. More class winners is good for the sport.
NHRA needs to make it easier for the contingency sponsors to participate. This has been a big killer to our type of racing. A class win years ago would pay some money to offset the entry fees and travel cost.

I like everything about Ed's proposal except the part about combining the auto and manual classes

Okay..First point. Those of you who may think that this poll has no validity ,and doesn't reflect much of anything,..well you're entitled to your own opinion.I'll leave it there.

No. 1,
Lots of folks still interested in performance, but, as Glen from NHRA stated, the AHFS system would have to be totally re-vamped , or nobody would want to play along.
That's not gonna happen. Their system is totally mechanical, meaning data in, results out. Nobody has to make a decision about hp or indexes, like in the old days.

No. 1 folks are not going to want to set a record for a couple of pts. in the first half , then go out to Vegas at the end of the season and lose a close heads up because they're carrying an extra 50- 100 lbs, thereby losing a spot in the top 10.

Likewise , No. 2 racers, (which there is a substantial amount of ) are not going to want to lose a top ten or Div. spot to a record setter. I suspect they've already let this be known to the SRAC.

No. 3 proves (at least to me ) that very few just want to let NHRA run amok.

No. 4 was just an easy out. Surprised there weren't more there.

I don't think I mentioned stick and auto combining. NHRA seems to know it won't work..as do I..Again, just my opinion.
