With the new reduction in the number of cars from 180 to 160 it looks like a few A/S cars will be missing this years event including me. Just heard Brett Saurbaugh was turned down with 2 grade points. Last year I got in with 1....
Oh well...

I had e mailed this person and did get a reply. It was pretty much a canned answer, but he should hear from as many racers as possible so he can be educated. Clearly, the quota was either botched up, or they didn’t have intentions of filling SG and SC and hoped no one would notice. Maybe William will be compelled to consider a management decision if he realizes how positive it could be. Moving some of the quota from SG and SC would not impact anyone if they put them back to 180 for SS and Stock.

SC and SG are both around 60 entries right now but everyone knows there will be a lot more entries as Indy approaches, why give NHRA your entry money early if there's still plenty of room in those classes? Stock and SS both went from approx half full to completely filled in the last 7-10 days.

[QUOTE=Whalen3186;593710]I would argue that changing the quota from 160 to 180 does impact some racers. If you're the guy that qualifies #130 with a 180 car quota, there's a good chance that you would have made the show with 160 entries. There's probably a few racers that entered Indy with the expectation of a 160 car quota and the belief that they could qualify.
EXACTLY! We have all known it was 160 since the season started... you wanna run The Go... then load your stuff up 4-5 times the other 51 weeks out of the year and Go to the track. Troy Galbraith #3506 |

2 things have always been true about Indy. 1) Easier to enter 2) harder to qualify

It could be that SC SG racers know their categories are filling slow, and are waiting later to enter. To change their quotas now, is a little premature.

Possibly, but we had the same situation last year with SC and SG. They were slow to fill and eventually, if my memory is correct, each only had a little over 100 entries at the deadline.
