Don't have a dog in the hunt.

But, I'm enjoying this thread. Until last season, I didn't know a Stocker could switch over & run SS, without changes.

Then I noticed that Lindy Lindholm ran his Bird(which was stolen) in SS, & a late model in Stock, at the same race.

As long as the safety rules are met, I don't see a problem with it. Due to the bracket-like, dial-your-own nature of non-heads-up races, as long as the Stocker can run the SS index, it has just as good a chance of winning as the quickest SS car has.

Maybe THAT'S why some guys who have spent LOTS of money makin their SS car super quick don't want cheaper-to-build Stockers running SS.

But, I can't really see any difference in running against a slow, low buck SS car, than running against a Stocker that is quick enuff to run it's SS index.

What's the problem with it ? Should NHRA stop it, because some of the quick SS guys don't like it ? Would like to hear more opinions about it.
Lower quotas at Nat. events and some of the SS entries get filled with cars built to run Stock Elim., the class they normally run. I think that's not right. My opinion.

Suppose if you spent the time and $ to get grade points then you’re free to run whatever class you’re legal for.

I'm at grade 8 in SS. So what about the grade 3,4 or 5 SS guy waiting to enter his local Nat. event and it fills with cars that never runs in SS. That must feel pretty special.

The way I always understood the rule book it says(in ss section) that basically Stock rules apply and these are the modifications allowed beyond Stock elim and that is what makes it SuperStock....mods are OK -Not Mandatory other than some SFI requirements like a cage or clothes etc.etc....Victor Penrod

Hacksaw you have a very good point. Can grade points earned in one class be used in another?

Bryan had 12 grade points last year, entered stock at New England with 8. Had to wait till it dropped to 4 to get in with the super stocker.

With 8 grade points you should be able to race at any events you wish too enter. Plus I looked up Hacksaw at the events this past year and I didn't see the name. Kenney Kelley

When I entered super stock it was the Monday that entries closed and it was something like 13 away from being full. At epping national... stock was 2 over I seem to remember. More money for NHRA this way 🙂
