Well said Larry and Kevin. I love this country and hate seeing a small group of people trying to take control. We need to stop being silent and show the rest of the country how proud we are to live in the greatest country in the world.

The old saying "The squeaky wheel gets the grease" comes to mind as a small extremely vocal minority is squeaking loudly. It is time for the great silent majority to be heard. Most people could learn from drag racers as a whole as you won't find a group of people that respect and look out for each other any better than the drag racing family no matter what their race, background, or economic situation.

Someone from the N.H.R.A., D5 or Topeka owes everyone a response to this thread.

I would think the division director would have the answer. Did anyone ask him at the race about this. The last 2 D2 races I went to the anthem was played loud and proud. Even NASCAR is still playing the national anthem at their races.

My father was at Topeka, years ago. His stay in the VA hospital was quite long, over a year. I would ask him about his service and recovery, his response was always the same; "I have done and seen some awful things that I don't want to talk about. Please don't ask!" He never complained or felt sorry for himself, he just made lemonade.
I know that I'm not alone that a member of the family was crippled from the war. That's why I feel like I do about the National Anthem. |

Just read on FB from an informed source that the decision was made to do the Pledge in lieu of the Anthem given the current "climate". Certainly don't agree with that mindset, but that was the reasoning behind the decision.
Holding a drag race at Heartland Park in Topeka frigging Kansas and we're afraid the National Anthem would be potentially offensive or problematic. There is officially no hope... |

I was glad when we said the pledge thinking it was being added and the National Anthem would be next. Really disappointed when it was not played. About the only negative to a well run race other than my two first round losses. Mike McMahan 25 H/SA
