NHRA What Is Wrong With You

Just read on FB from an informed source that the decision was made to do the Pledge in lieu of the Anthem given the current "climate". Certainly don't agree with that mindset, but that was the reasoning behind the decision.

Holding a drag race at Heartland Park in Topeka frigging Kansas and we're afraid the National Anthem would be potentially offensive or problematic. There is officially no hope...

I was glad when we said the pledge thinking it was being added and the National Anthem would be next. Really disappointed when it was not played. About the only negative to a well run race other than my two first round losses. Mike McMahan 25 H/SA

Maybe we need to hold up their little race while WE THE PEOPLE sing the National Anthem on the starting line!!!

Didn't take long for many to go from just being grateful to go racing again to complaining about not hearing a song.

The reasoning behind not playing it is dumb, but I've never understood what the national anthem has to do with sports anyway.

If you served, you'd understand. You are racing because people laid down their lives so you can now race in a country built on freedoms.

I'm happy to report that the "SONG" was played yesterday at Atco. Calling the National Anthem a song tells me alot about you! Wake up and smell the coffee!
