Not sure if that also means if you run in the 9's as in for example a A/SA and don't have the safety equipment to be in the 9's. Just a thought.

In my opinion, the wording "Drivers who run under elapsed time barriers outlined in their category" is specific enough that your example wouldn't apply.

Standard safety-related rules would still be in effect on a single as they would be in any other qualification or elimination round.
