AMC in 80's used the Chrysler 904 trans with a chevy bolt pattern behind the GM 4 cylinder. Bolts right up to a chevy V8 block and all the internals are 904. They also used a 2.74 low gear instead of the 2.45 standard.

Pro trans also did a Ford C-6 with 904 internals . It was the desired piece until NHRA allowed the C4 to be used in all Fords

rsalami,
How do you tell the Mail truck transmissions that have the 2.74 low gear from the mail truck transmissions that have 2.45 with out disassembling.
I have 2 of those mail truck transmissions with converters and on the outside they look identical to me.

Yep, pro trans out of Waco Texas. They are based on the mopar design, but are all scratch built cnc components. And yes, to say it?s a work of art is an understatement. Just absolutely stunning. Brilliant design and execution.

I bought the 904's out of 4 cyl AMC Sprit and concords - as far as I know all the 4 cyls had the 2.74 gearset. I bought a couple for $100 each from parts yards. everything else in the trans is identical. there is no difference in the case.

The 2.74 planetaries are often found at transmission
core shops and the do not cost a lot.

The straight cut gears are aftermarket and not cheap.
