A lot of stock LT1's had a crank sensor. IMO, a crank trigger is a fine replacement for the factory sensor.

(I have seen zero performance improvement from running a crank trigger on my LT1)

Default Crank sensor 36-1

Both the BBC (Gen-5+) AND SBC (LT-x) have crankshaft targets fitted by the OEM.

That target is a four (4) tooth wheel.
Those engines also run a "distributor", POS.

My replacement for that wheel is a new target, a 36 tooth wheel with ONE missing tooth.
The EOM sensor is also used to provide the signal to the EMS.
With this method an accurate "spark instant" is achieved.

What you are reporting is how BIG MONEY rules NHRA requiring their product implementation to be ENFORCED.
The costs are increased to the racers who are required to run inferior equipment.

Frank,

Pat forwarded all the stuff for Gen VI ECU. Yes those are still fine.
Generally when we accept a product like ecu's the previous version and
or models are still accepted. But I will go ahead and add it to the
list. Hope you had a good holiday.

Hope this makes for a Happier New Year for those that are affected.

Default NHRA approved list of ECU's for fuel injection.

Today, Jake Hairston stated that the Pantera EFI ECU-882's, 422's, all versions of that family are on the "List".

He stated that a new list will soon be published.
