Back in the 70's, Ed came out with a Port-oSonice intake that he welded or epoxied a box that fit over the intake and held ice water, chilling down the manifold. Did it work? Is it legal today? Does anyone have any info on or pictures of it? Thanks

Yup I had the Hamburger Porto-sonic Offy intake, I'm still pretty sure I have it hiding in the attic somewhere. I don't remember the cooling device you are talking about. Ed and I were very good friends and associates. Jim

I had my hands on one of them at a swap meet years ago. It was an edlebrock dual plane, not a port o sonic though. It was neat, had a big aluminum pan that went right down into the valley and was sealed on both ends. The guy who had it didn't know what the purpose of the big pan was. Ice would make sense, but we thought it was to keep the hot oil away from the bottom of the intake. The new air gap manifolds are kind of the same idea. I've never seen another one, should have bought it just for conversation sake.

Moroso made a tray/pan that went under the intake manifold and kept the oil from directly splashing on to the underside of the manifold. You placed the tray in the lifter valley then installed the in take manifold. I used it on the SS car. Jim

You guys are going off topic again. I have a OLD Polaroid picture of the motor with intake. It won't scan. Its that bad. I remember that the aluminum sheet metal was tiged on to the aluminum intake and at least one petcock for drainage. Would it have been in one of Ed's Hamburger Performance 340/360 catalogues?
