Default Re: Steve Sullivan's 88 LX.... Article

Steve personifies the true drag racer, most everything he rolls out was built by him late nights in his home garage. I met him when we were both students at the University of Cincinnati in the late 70's. We both drove to school and bracket raced 6-cylinder cars. I got a taste of his inner drive when he challenged me to see who could get their car to run 17's with a stock engine. His Fairlane was soon in the mid-17's while my much-lighter Chevy II was a second slower. I responded by putting a 283 in my car and running 15's. Steve then built his own back-half chassis car, while I purchased a turn-key race car. Two different philosophies, Steve in the garage at night while I was playing sports and drinking beer.
