jason, my time run on friday mourning was just like tommy's etc. i do a very short burnout, M/T tires, same 60' so not there, ok after the stop came back on, 2.78 out. It was around the 1/8 th mile mark my car took a sharp left turn. and if you read some of these post again you will see many underpowered cars still could not get down the track.
i also remember seeing sportsman finals on tv (lucas oil coverage) from some race that was held over till monday, i remember a biondo and massell run in comp, aborted runs, super comp wreck, then same aborted runs in finals, super gas, (brianna sp.) and ? aborted runs, super stock same thing, even STOCK was spinning the whole way down the track, can someone refresh my memory on what race this was... HEY NHRA THERE IS A PROBLEM ! wasn't nhra founded on the basics of safety???????

oh yea i wanted to add, our first round of eleminations, i switched lanes, it was warmer, and i went straight. i don't want to make this sound like i'm a sore loser, my opponenent won this round fairly, he was also a nice guy! i am just saying something needs to change before someone gets hurt, no one wants to lift on an elemination round!

I've been asking about the national event track prep for a year....I finally got to ask Graham at the SRAC meeting in Gainsville.... He said Goodyear told him that the traction compound is causing the fuel car tires to chunk. So for before the fuel cars run the spray till 800 ft only....then before prostock they spray the entire track. And that they have not changed the VHT that they have always used....And to his knowledge....VHT has not changed its formula.....

And I don't believe the cold thing....Belle Rose was 40 degrees and killer....the Norwalk divisional was killer....the national sucked...????

So they must be cutting the VHT more...he said they cut with only Methanol....the fuel cars really don't need any spray by the looks of things....

Has anybody noticed you can't smell the VHT at nationals??? maybe its just me....

Something needs to change quick....I will continue to complain.....

Rock

I bet at Z Max they hardly sprayed because of the chunking tires....and what it was that they sprayed had a negative affect...

The divisional in '09??? Because I was the 5th pair to go down the track for the 1st round, and it was a pedal fest between me and Steve Williams. Steve runs 9.90 flat out, and not even he could get hooked up. I noticed him all over the place when I was on the stop and knew I was going to have trouble coming off, so I took it easy and was able to pass him, but I was still losing traction at 1/8th mile. After us, they shut down to re-prep. After that, I don't know how it was.

Track prep at National events just plain suck! This has been happening since Vegas last year. look at Vegas, Pomona, Pomona, Firebird, Gainsville, Charlotte. (trend maybe). I noticed at the Vegas event them only spraying to 1000 feet. Because of lack of track prep I crashed my car there.

I do not understand the statement that the fuel cars are chunking the tires. so what! they put new tires almost every run.
do the sportsman?

why is track prep dictated by 7% of the race cars there.

Plus if the Fuel cars raced to the 1320' then everyone would have the same track prep and no chunking problems. If the problem is that those cars are too fast slow them down and leave the track length, prep, etc to the majority of the race cars there.

And i aslo agree that the fuel cars as well as alcohol cars do not need track prep due to downforce, clutch slip, etc. Please don't tell me that because those cars can get down the track that everyone else should.
sorry for the rant, just needed to vent.
Good luck to all.

Hey Rick,
I'm doing good. Back to work full time. no brace anymore. x-rays look good. fully released to pursue happiness. I think my wife and I will go to Great Bend to spectate. I haven't decided our racing plans, just finished the motor for her car, so will probably bracket race that for awhile. The super street car needs freshened. may take my time on that one. May even take the motor from the vette and put in the chevelle. I have been looking at gas,top sportsman, and dragsters on RJ just for ideas or that "must have" deal.
Thanks for asking, hope all is well with you and your wife. hope to see you in GB.

See you there.
