It could have been. I was having a conversation with the announcer and looked up and saw a white Mustang and what I thought was John driving it. My confusion....sorry.

And as I've said before, 138 MPH is on the street fuel tune and high water temps. Somebody will let their ego go out of check and run 142+ by the end of the year and traction will not be an issue either. I expect a 9.38 @ 142. Now I expect there is some mandate on FORD not to do this so it may be in testing only. That's my prediction and I'm sticking to it!

Hmmm, I'll have to save that Jeff. |

I just love the intrigue that these Cobra Jets have brought to this site. Just popped the corn and now enjoying a Bud Light. I'm ready for the next episode.

Jeff,
Your prediction is probably very close. Steve at Ford Racing Parts (SVT) says the motor makes 750 Horsepower. 3,350 @ 750 HP = 9.41 @ 143 mph.

Bruce,
Is this the 5.4-liter motor? If it is, that's nearly 2.3 hp per cubic inch... Wonder about the engine life of a motor making this much power per cube, hot-lapping in the final rounds. Might that be a factor? Is that a Gilmer belt driving the blower, or just a multi-ribbed serpentine unit? To make that kind of power, I'd think the supercharger must be working pretty hard (high boost levels,) That's hard on belts.... Just a thought. Bill

For 750hp they don't seem to be running all that well so far.
You don't give Ford guys much credit, Bruce. We love to rile Chevy and Mopar guys by telling them things like 750hp dyno numbers. If you read history you'll see they told NASCAR they were coming out with a 600 HP overhead cam Galaxie, the Mopar guys had no internet forums to moan about it online back then. Too bad, it would have saved Ford from having to build a few prototypes. |

Bill,
The fellow at FRP (SVT) said they had put twin turbos on this motor and that the bottom end had no problems holding up under the 1,100 Horsepower they produced. His words. Not mine.
