Looking to see if someone knows what the largest tire I can run in a 66 Impala with a 15x10 wheel?
The car has stock style suspension with stock width housing. Thanks for any help in advance! |

I have a 30x9 M/T On my 69 Biscayne with 10 inch wheels. Had to trim the left wheel lip, and use 1/4 inch spacers behind the wheels, for the tire to clear the spring mount on the frame. Hope this helps.

Do you think if I went with a 28" tall I could fit wider? Maybe a 28x11? I did measure the wheel well width at 13.5" inches and I run an adjustable panhard bar to center the rear.

Scott, I also run a 68 Impala in I/S (stick) What combination engine do you run? Just curious.
I run a 396/325 at 4095 lbs I also run Hoosier 30.0'' x 9.0'' on 8" rims, same issues though. I am not too sure centering the rear would help much, possibly with the right amount of backspace and completely folding up the wheel opening lip you might be able to fit 11's? Will Lamprecht Stk 1427 |

Boss, You can fit 28x11's on an 8 inch wheel for sure. You are gonna have to trim the wheel lips. I am not sure you are gonna be able to make 10 inch wheels fit with the 28x11 tires. My 10 inch wheels have 5 inches of back spacing.
Will, I am gonna run the 427 335h.p. combo in I/SA. Car has to weigh like 4210 in I. I have not got the car out yet. But hope to in the next few months. I wanna run a stick at some point, just too much right now. How does your combo work with the stick?

When I built my car a lot of attention was on reliability, many people said with a stick shift the car would be a parts breaker. Most of those were old time racers who used 3200 lb pressure clutches with factory style 4 speeds back in the day. I run a jerico with a Mcleod adgustable clutch with very light pressurre, even a 14lb flywheel.
I did a frame off build doing some strengthing of key areas tying everithing together with the roll bar and a extra cross brace located to the weak point of these cars which is the rear upper control bars crossmember. Plus solid body bushings all throughout and a 3.5 inch moly driveshaft. In over 90 passes I have only broken 1 set of rear gears, that was only because they were Street gears, which I have now replaced with Pro gears. I have not been racing in the last few years, but plan to be out this year now living in Div 2 Check out video. Will |
