Phil,
I have the standard type of mirror, not the "racing" type. But the front edge of that base is approx. 14 11/16" from the front edge of the door. The mounting screw hole is 17 3/4" from the front. (I tried measuring along the centerline of the shoulder - top of the door, since the front has a little curve in it.)
