Default 40 Year Old Stocker Handicapped?

I just got through reading the article on Craig Couris' L88 Corvette Stocker in the May issue of Drag Racing Action. It is an excellent article on one of the nicest Corvette Stockers that I have seen. It is state of the art and fast.

Two coments in the article stood out to me.

"......vastly underrated aluminum-headed big block...."

"By it's nature this car is much more Super Stock-ish."

So, why are so many of the guys on here crying that the 40 year old cars are at such a disadvantage?

(It snowed pretty heavy here, so I have nothing better to do than to stir the pot!)
