One of my all time favorite memories while my boys still lived at home. The three of us flew out from Seattle and had a blast. My sons had never seen class racing like that, and I remember the look on my older son's face after about the first 10 pairs ran ( remember Friday morning,,all stick cars came to the lanes) saying, Dad,,this is the baddest! Yeah it was very hot,, but we knew we were seeing something special. I'd never met Alex before or have seen him since,, but I made a point to go to his pit and thank him for putting that race together. I'd love to see it happen again,,I know I'm not alone. If Alex D. wants to put together another event like this I will do everything I possibly can to be there. I want to see class racing alive and well while the idea is still possible.

I sure hope it happens again. My family and I made the drive from Roseville California to just watch the event. It was the greatest event that I have seen. GeerHead55, remember that is where our two families meet for the first time. This time it will be easier to attend the event because I moved to Illinois from California so I won't have to make the long trip.

I wonder if the Bader Family would be interested in an event like this. Norwalk is a great race facility, good location, and good people run the track. I'll bet they would get a ton of cars to boot.

There are tracks & track owners that have the place & the spectator base to do a US Class Nationals race or be a part of the series. They will just have to get in the right position to do it. They will have to work to promote it to maxamize their profit.

Time for it again.
Any track that is associated with NHRA is going to feel pressure to NOT run an independent race like the US Class Nationals. Read the fine print in the sanction contract. It happend the first time & will happen again because they feel threatened. That is something that must be workerd on . Case in point look at the latest race in Houston.. compromise.. 50% nitro... It is my opinion they will pressure insurance companies too. We lost a couple of key people at the US Class Nationals because of the pressure. Others stepped up and made it happen. I was proud to be a part of it. It can be done again & again, but it will have to be very well organized. I was told a race at Virginia was planned as a second US Class Nationals, but it didn't happen. I suspect it was outside pressure. No one ever called to tell me. Then Alex faced personal attacks from a racer with past issues & ulterior motives. It just got to be too much of a hassel to do it again. Now is the time to reorganize & do it again as a series. I'm sure ready.
