The new diesel oil, spec SJ, came out along with the Jan 2007 introduction of particulate traps for diesel pickups. You want to find the older spec oil, CI4+, that does not meet SJ. the oil companies get away with saying the new stuff is backwards compatible and meets CI4+ spec, but the new stuff has different additives and a major reduction in what we want to protect flat tappets. Most retailers don't have the old stuff anymore, but Chevron distributors may carry the old stuff in 5 gallon buckets.
