Larry,
Mike put a stick in the car so he would have less heads up races. He was tired of having to step up it up. He loves driving the stick also. Tom, Ed does not smoke anymore. But I'm sure he was the reason for the sub 50 mpg. Day is over, it was a warm day for racing, but I'm not complaining. The temp went to 86 and the altitude was 2500ft at is worst. Stock is first out tomorrow, 8 am. It will be tough dial, but we are all in the same boat. Super Stock class is right after us. |

With the stick in the Ford Mike will have to get some taller jack stands so he will have enough room to work on the clutch.

Ray, yes no decals. Its looks great, but I just could not bring myself to take off the decals. If I ever got lucky enough to get to the finals, I would not be a happy camper throwing that kind of money away.
Below are some pics from the last qualifying shot for super stock. |

Thanks Larry, I need all the luck I can get. First round started on time. It was tough to dial the car. I ran a ton slow, only thing that saved me was my unusually good light. Bobby was holding, but I think it was because he did not make any full runs during qualifying. The temp was 64, but the humidity was 90%, after my run there was water coming off the top my car, it was humid. The tree was real tough to see. The sunrise was right in your face and the way they block the tree you could not see the bulbs very well. When they started to come down it was like racing at night, bright as can be, at least for me anyway.
Here are some pictures after first round of Super Stock class., they ran right after us. The red '79 Aspen of Lloyd Wofford looks to be headed for the barn. The last picture is of Byron Worner after his SS/IA class win. |
