Boycotting Indy (or any event) will have as much effect on them as the Modified protest in 81 - nothing. They've got their bean counters looking at it and so a 100% increase in fees drives away 25% of the participants - they are still money ahead. Until they reach that point where the participant reduction exceeds the price increase there will be no changes.

Apparently I was mistaken is suggesting you talk to your DDs. Thay didn't have anything to do with this. It came down directly from the top with no input from the the "bottom." What concerns me most is the fact that it states "Effective immediately." If I had entered an event yesterday, it would have been cheaper. If I had certified my car yesterday, it would have been cheaper. Good business sense dictates a warning of sorts that in one-two-three-whatever months/period, the fees would go up.

It has become painfully apparent recently that this went bye-bye a long time ago at NHRA.

It almost sounds as if they want the sportsman racer to just go away....and their plan is working quite well!

I agree - boycotts don't work especially in drag racing. There will always be some SOB that will show up in hopes of an easy win.

However in saying that - if there was a boycott it should be at a National event at a NHRA "owned" track.
Otherwise if the track is independently owned they will end up hurt. No doubt NHRA would have a one-sided contract that would insure they get paid first.

Ed, the fee's will cost me an extra $145.00 a year. When I can't afford it, I will stay home, until then I'm having fun with NHRA.

Maybe this is the reason that some tracks don't want to have a divisional event....

Here's something for everyone to chew on when I was out in Arizona for the D-7 race at Firebird we had lost early and since Tuscon was the next weekend we loaded everything up and headed to SIR. Now the track owner is good friends with my buddy John Taylor and he was telling us that he has to pay NHRA $ 20,000 to have a divisional race there for 350 cars. If he gets more then 350 cars he has to pay an additional 100 or 200 dollars to NHRA per car over 350. Talk about crazy since NHRA is already getting 165 to 175 per racer to enter the actual race. Not sure what the cut is for the track on the entry fee but, he has to have a booked in program (Pro Mods) since they bypassed TA/FC and T/AD at the track this year so he can try to bring in spectators.
