Chip, If that's true ,then why are they raising all their fees, across the board?
They say they're losing money on us as it is. There must be some reason why they keep us around.

THE LEGEND, Let your friend know that according to the U.S. tax laws all citizens are subject to tax on all income they receive, regardless of the source (different country etc.). He wouldn't want to be caught on tax evasion lol. But about this subject... I'm not a class racer but do agree protesting Indy and even a few more NHRA races they make a lot of money at would open their eyes but we do not know how much. I wish we knew how much NHRA makes a year or per national event so we could really see the possible effect.

Mark,
It's the same reason a dog licks his whacker, BECAUSE HE CAN. They will continue to milk the racer for all they can while they can.

He would get $150,000 tax free. He would leave his $60,000 a year job behind as well as his wife kid and NO RACING ( He has 2 bracket cars) And I would loose my crew chief. I told him you don't realize how little a hundred grand is in todays figures. 30 years ago it would be life changing. Today you could'nt payoff your mortgage.
I could pay off my mortgage, my truck, my wife's car... every penny of all of our other debts, and could go racing comfortably for 5 years on the leftovers. On top of that, with no debts, it'd be like having an "extra" $1,500-$2,000/month. Maybe I'm in the minority, but that's a life-changing figure for me.

Back on topic: I went to my first Indy last year. I'm not going this year -- to Indy , or *any* NHRA races. I didn't need a reminder as to why I let my membership go the first time. I *do* have options on where to race, and I'll vote with my feet.

Beard,
1) You could'nt leave racing for a year.
2) You can't work on anything so this would'nt matter to you. LOL

I keep thinking I want an NHRA # I've got 4 nationals within 300 miles of here. The problem is the divisionals I have to go to to get to run the nationals. IHRA has enough races to keep me busy.
I would love to go to INDY once just because, but probably not twice.

Rick you are right it's $290 not $390. Bad math on my part. But still could be an eye opener for NHRA to look for revenue elsewhere other than the sportsman.

They only allow the fastest to qualify, not like it used to be with class winners and then the fastest. Winning "Class" has lost some of its luster. I cannot run .80 under so I will not attend, and no, I am not going to work harder on my stuff to keep up with all the bogus factored "fastest" qualifiers. Besides that how many of you real fast guys out there have the likes of Bob Shaw, Bob Dennis, Lloyd McKay, and Mike Senia run in your class during the the past 20 years. All these guys ever did was be so far under it would make you cringe knowing that you could go .000 on the tree and still not have a chance if they went .500

Oh, and I forgot, with what it cost, the amount of days in relation to time runs, the fun factor eliminated, it just does not seem logical anymore. I believe that Indy should be reduced to a divisional and Belle Rose should be where the real BIG GO should be.
