Question Close Racing in SS at Atlanta

I don't race in SS,but I do like to watch Drag Race Central and keep up on the action.Except for a couple of races in the first round of class, most don't appear to be even close. Why is this? Is everyone so afraid of getting horsepower that they are lifting at 1000 ft or earlier?

Reads like there are a lot of Stockers running in Super Stock so when they don't have a single they are getting smoked. Several of the "not 0.500 under" class loser singles too.

One thing is Atlanta is a "Mine Shaft" this morning I went 2 mph faster in the 1/8 than I've ever gone.
Lifted just past the 1000 ft and still went half a tenth quicker than yesterday.
