These runs "triggered" this engine combo for HP review. In June 2009, the NHRA will take ALL runs of more than .50 under the class index at National Events by this engine combination to come up with an "average" under the index run by this engine combo. If the average under the index run for this engine combination is more than 1.00, then this combination will receive a HP adjustment/increase. A bunch of runs a little more than .50 under the index with this engine combination will prevent this combination from receiving HP.

James & Fred,
You are correct in the Averages. I watched this happen a couple of years a go when Dan Fletcher "saved" a class index by making quite a few "Just over .50 under" runs. It pulled the Avg back under 1 sec for the class. The altitude 1.40 under change that I was concerned with is why I'm trying to make my comeback (after 2 1/2 years away) @ Memphis instead of Great Bend. I can get a Friday T&T to get setup to stay away from that 1.40 number. Now if I can just get the rear tires back on the car. (found a problem with the wheel studs) & get the brakes working on my hauler truck I might make it. 2 1/2 years of just sitting sure is hard on man & Machine... :~)

Adger said, " I watched this happen a couple of years a go when Dan Fletcher "saved" a class index by making quite a few "Just over .50 under" runs. It pulled the Avg back under 1 sec for the class."

That statement "saved a class index" confused me. This has been about horsepower factors, not class indexes.

Did Fletcher "save" the factor for a particular engine combo, or did he prevent a class index from being changed?

"Saved a class index" makes it sound like the latter, and I don't think that's what you meant....

Straighten me out on this, please, Adger.... I'm having a lot of trouble understanding exactly what went on.

Thanks for any information.
Bill

Runs included in the AHFS database are limited to final qualifying runs (Q data) and final elimination runs (E data) at NHRA national events only. (At events where class eliminations are run, all runs are included in the AHFS database. Only the first round of class is part of qualifying and therefore is part of the "Q" database.) The "Q" data and "E" data files are the official data gathered by the NHRA timing system and processed through the NHRA Information Technology department. NHRA "Q" data and "E" data are the only data files used for the AHFS.

Huh? Do they make this as confusing as possible,so they can manipulate it?

Unhappy Re: Automatic Horsepower Factoring System

Just as I was thinking the 350/255 will get HP.
The average will be too high to beat it down..
Thanks for the opinion
