MPH is the standard by which HP can be measured more accuately; E.T. is subject to the hook factor to a much larger extent than mph.
If you want to compare the HP output of two car's engines, forget the e.t.... it's not a reliable indicator. MPH is, within the aero variables.

It's only important as an accurate indicator of how much HP they are putting to the ground.
If they don't hook, they'll never win anything...
