Jeff,

That's a Ford and he is a technical expert who is a published author in National Dragster.

Now my plan is to put a Ford 9" housing with a Strange Aluminum 12 bolt center section in our stocker and see if we can sell that to NHRA.

Bob,

That'll happen when Ford buys G.M. and resurrects/exhumes Pontiac.

Bill,

I guess that's like the AMC / MOPAR shotgun wedding that put Dana 60's in the AMX.

Just to set the record straight, the last Pontiac rolled off the assembly line 28 yeras ago in 1981.

Bob,
FYI, NHRA told Evans to take out his aluminum 9" center section. Even after it appeared in ND as a tech article. It falls under "no light-weight components unless otherwise specified" in the rulebook. Obviously there are many loop holes under that category.

Please email me at the address below. I want to discuss something else with you.
Thanks,
Jeff

I am no GURU but my personal experience has been that the better pinion placement on the Dana made up for the extra weight. I switched from an 8.75 with a spool to a Dana 60 with a spool (same axles) and the only real change was I quit breaking gears. The car seemed to run exactly the same.

I saw a post from Larry Hill earlier that switching to a Dana did not slow him down, although I assume he was able to maintain the same weight by removing ballast.

Maybe you are saying the same thing but being more subtle :-)

I have heard of Max Wedge cars going faster with the Dana's. Just look under John Shaul's car, if it will make it faster it's on John's car.

Years ago Car Craft did a back to back at the track test of an 8 3/4 to a Dana 60 in an A-Body. No difference.
