This is an email from Renee Bingham of Godspeed Ministries that I received!!

Update on Marc: I spoke with Marc's wife Jennifer tonight. Marc was in surgery for around 5 hours. The doctors rebuilt the right side of his face by putting a plate under his right eye, another plate at the right side of his nose and 2 plates on his upper jaw. They also pulled 2 more teeth, bringing the total to 6 teeth now missing. His nose is packed. He cannot eat or drink tonight.
The doctors told them that he was very fortunate. Had he been hit any more to the left or top of his face, he may not be with us today or would at the least have neurological damage. He is a blessed man.
Marc was awake when I was talking to Jennifer and writing notes. He wants everyone to know that Jennifer will be setting up a Caring Page online at Wake Medical Center. We will let you know when it is ready and how to access it. He really appreciates all the prayers. Keep them up!

They have set up a care page for Marc, you have to register to look at it though but its a relatively simple and quick process.

This is the updates listed so far....

"Day of surgery - 4/22/09
Posted 1 hour ago
We arrived to WakeMed Cary @ 7:10 am for surgery that was scheduled for 9:15 am. Pre-op started around 8:20 then off to the OR @ 9:20. Now starts the long wait while he is in surgery. We received a page from surgery @ 12:30 letting us know that so far surgery was going well & that the surgical staff had just finished working on one side of his face and would be starting on the other side. From this time, it would still be another 2-3 hours of surgery. Finally, at about 4:30 the surgeon came to talk with us. He said that everything went well & that Marc was, at that point, in recovery. They did put 4 metal plates in the right side of his face(1 plate under eye, 1 plate beside nose, & 2 plates in jaw - it was actually shattered), re-stitch his top lip (it came open again during surgery), pulled 2 more teeth that were heavily damaged, & he has a stint over his nose with packing in both sides of his nose. After a long day especially for Marc, we were able to get into his room at approx. 6:45 pm. The remainder of the evening was to settle in, get him comfortable, & try to get some rest. More updates tomorrow.

We have so many people to thank. First of all, GOD for the blessing of Marc. We are very fortunate that Marc is still with us & very blessed that his injuries were not any worse than they are. It is obvious to me that Marc has a large extended family who really do think a lot of him. For this, we cannot express enough gratitude for all the prayers, phone calls, & well wishes. Thanks to all for everything. We love you."

Good Afternoon to All,

Marc did get some rest last night. This morning he was able to tolerate some clear liquids without nausea/vomiting. They came & took him for a CAT scan this am just to make sure everything from surgery is in good position. No word yet on those results. Surgeon is supposed to come by later today to check on how he is doing. Marc did get up to the bathroom this morning then sat up in the recliner for a little while to eat some lunch. Thanks again for all the prayers, phone calls, & support. Will post another update this evening."

Hey everybody...took me a little while but I'm here. Thank you to ALL of you for thinking about me, sending me a card, email, text message, flowers, etc., etc. The number of people who have contacted me in some form or fashion has been truly unbelievable! I am doing really well, just got home from the dr. and he is really happy with everything. I must say that I had a great surgeon. I'm still missing a few teeth and I have four metal plates in my face that I hadn't planned on having, but I am so thankful that things were not worse. Prayers have certainly been answered. Wanted to come to Piedmont this weekend but the Dr. says not quite yet. He did say I should be fine for Kinston so I will be there! Thanks again to everybody, everywhere for everything! Anyone who doesn't think IHRA is one big family should talk to me sometime about. I love you guys and gals....each and every one of you!
