Default Oil Pan Capacity

How much oil is actually needed in the pan of a BBC for a run? Can you use a accusump to reduce the level of oil in the pan yet still providing the oil system with the capacity it needs with the accusump?

Yes on the accusump question. Before accusump allowance, some of the BBC stocker racers were running less than 2gts in the pan! The accusump just made it easier on those that were not willing to sacrifice an engine or two to learn. I've been there in Stock. They go really fast with less than 2qts. Until it blows up!
