How do you figure out how to classify a Crate Motored Stocker ? Do you use Stock shipping weight and advertised HP of the crate engine ??

Yes mostly although some crate engines have been factored or de-rated over the years. You need to call a current IHRA tech offical or the IHRA main office to get the latest factor. Ive been away from it for over 8 years. Then its just as regular stock is classified as going to the next class up or down and figuring the min. wt and adding 170 lbs for the driver. Same deal as NHRA stock. Yes the stick classes loose the extra "A" on the class designation.
