Thumbs up Re: 2009 A Stick Challenge at Indy

More updates. The racer donations really add up. Here is another example.

I have been into drag racing all of my life and have raced in Super Stock (including Indy) in the past. I will always be a fan and supporter of Stock & Super/ Stock racing so thanks for getting this together.

Over $1000 bucks to the winner in cash and product! I have made shirts for the competitors and also Class Winner Shirts. These cars are some of the most brutal cars in terms of cost to maintain. I really appreciate the dedication to the class. Being a stick guy, I prefer the sticks of course. Should be a good show. Remember Brett McFarland took it all last year! Who knows this year? Could be anyone!

I will have a limited supply of shirts. I try and order enough to keep the cost down and sell them at my cost. If you are interested, e mail me jimschaechter@earthlink.net or haunt me at the track. I sell out quick so don't wait. When they are gone, they are gone.

Thanks to all of the racers, fans and company supporters of such a cool class! See you at Indy!

Jim,
That should be a 427/425 single holley motor. Tri-power was not offered until 67. See ya at INDY.

Troy - the quality of the video isn't great but I posted a bunch of hte 2007 US Nationals stock class runs on youtube starting here: . There are 5-6 videos that are about 5 minutes each.

I am driving to Indy tonight with our Chevy II stocker. I'll have the A/S participant t-shirts with me along with some extras if anyone wants to buy one. If you look for me I am guessing I am going to be waaaayyy out in the back of the sportsman pits.

Thumbs up Re: 2009 A Stick Challenge at Indy Results

3050 Tony Tosto 428 Kevin Helms
C1 0.040 10.454 127.73 ****WINNER**** 0.096 10.349 127.04
A/S Index: 11.25 (+/-): -0.796 A/S Index: 11.25 (+/-): -0.901
Qualified: #149 10.457 127.59 #68 10.151 130.47

Kevin Helms' MOV: 0.0493 seconds (approximately 9 feet).

Tosto is new to the game and has come a long way this year! Helms sacrificed a bullet. He said it locked up after the scales.
Hello spun rod bearing. Good thing he had a spare bullet and his brother Scott to help him make the eliminator.

1308 Ralph Porpora 6730 Jim Waldo
C1 0.071 10.255 128.90 ****WINNER**** 0.074 10.216 130.64
A/S Index: 11.25 (+/-): -0.995 A/S Index: 11.25 (+/-): -1.034
Qualified: #72 10.154 129.80 #58 10.133 131.20
Almost identical RT's and Jim Waldo takes the close win. MOV: 0.0365 seconds (approximately 7 feet).

Great race! The LS-1 prevails.

3533 Brett McFarland 3602 Jason McCormack
C1 0.016 10.168 129.78 ****WINNER**** 0.014 10.167 129.39
A/S Index: 11.25 (+/-): -1.082 A/S Index: 11.25 (+/-): -1.083
Qualified: #64 10.145 129.92 #85 10.169 129.79
Great lights and Jason McCormack wins with a hole shot. MOV: 0.0033 seconds (approximately 8 inches).

One of the best races here. Last year’s Champ, Brett McFarland gives it a great ride,
But Jason has all he can handle and then some.

Final Round

3602 Jason McCormack 6730 Jim Waldo
C2 0.139 10.677 101.93 ****WINNER**** 0.032 10.209 130.83
A/S Index: 11.25 (+/-): -0.573 A/S Index: 11.25 (+/-): -1.041
Jason knew he was late and knew the chase was futile. Congrats!

Jim Waldo, the 2009 A stick Challenge winner!

This is what makes the A stick Challenge so great. So many things have to go right to get a great run out of these cars! Thanks to the many supporters and sponsers that appreciate these racers and their cars!

Jim Waldo takes over 1,000 in cash and prizes and thats not bad at all. Tie that in with a win with at Indy with another of his son's and you have a pretty nice week of racing. Congratulations!
