If you are chasing and red comes on even after 60 ft you have plenty time to shut down. The only way it mite work if it dose not come on till you clear the traps, both cars.

As it stands today if the first to launch goes red the second to launch knows the first to launch red lite because his win light comes on. Nothing changes but to make it a much more fair race.

This is bull.
What is it's purpose? We've had the "first is worst" rule for decades, why fool around with this rule now? And as for the '55-'57 chevy rule, I would like to remind you brand "X" guys that other cars were actually built during that era and that '57 Fords outsold '57 chevys during that year. Wouldn't be nice if you let the other cars play too? JimR

When the RED LIGHT did come on so would the WIN LIGHT on the scoreboards ! The WINNER has already been decided as soon as the fast car leaves the starting line ! Last edited by John Kelley; 09-21-2009 at 11:47 AM. |

Thats what they need to do! Take all the advantages of building a fast stocker away. Cool, now we can all build wheel standing 4 door impala wagon 6 cylinders and really get the spectators to watch! NHRA would love to have us then!

Maybe we could lobby for taking away the "Clean Tree" advantage of the slower car.
It seems like every change that is made, just brings out more people wanting other changes. |

Somtimes when racing but far more from years on the announcing deck, I've seen many a race where the quicker car had the worst red light and won, and wondered why,,,,,, I KNOW why, but wondered still. I've seen a few races over the years where a M or N car goes red and B or C cars go far worse on the red side and wondered if they were red because they already knew,,,,, but I've also seen FAR more runs where B runs a C or a G runs an H and both go red milliseconds from one another, yet the first car always gets to pack it up early, even if the second was the worse of the two. And it happens far more between close cars then it does those with a large disparity in dials. As times change, so does technology, with technology available to handle this type of situation, why NOT use it. Others have pointed out the change that happened with breakouts, from first to worst. Why not with the reds too. Hasn't the object always been to run the BEST race you can in YOUR lane, and if the other guy beats you, it was because he was BETTER than you in that particular race? Where is this any different? My .02 Unk Last edited by BobUnkefer; 09-21-2009 at 05:13 PM. |
