Thanks for the pics Tom.If you don't know ramblers you wouldn't know the significance of the weight sticker picture.

Ed you are such a tease. I am no AMC pro or amateur for that matter, but I know a guy that had a couple scramblers and they were 390 4 speed cars. Is the hood scoop an appearance package of some sort? I would not have guessed that car to weigh 3100 either. What does your AMC wisdom tell you? LOL

harry sheehan and his son... me.... it's been a great 40 years of racing together.
41 years ago, harry took me to INDY for the first time. who would have thought that we could still be going there and competing and winning at the highest levels. thanks for everything dad..... it would be hard to do it without you!

Who was doing the Tech Inspection on these cars? The only Ramblers offered with a Hood Scoop like the one shown, was the Hurst inspired "Scrambler", which was equipped with the 390 cu. in. engine. The weight sticker is the same as my IHRA SS and Garrett Ghezzi's NHRA SS/MA AMX. Garrett appealed to the horsepower gurus at NHRA to reduce the HP from 225 to 210 for SS, and prevailed. IHRA generally follows suit and did so in this case also. Where is Travis Miller?

Travis was at this race, he didn't give this car a second look as he went by from my vantage point. I must say it's the first one I've seen although that doesn't mean much. Joe
